About Hyper Pet
Hyper Pet was founded in Wichita, Kansas in 1983. In the beginning they were a small company operating out of a 10,000 square foot production facility with 11 employees trying to find their way. Though they were small, they began with a commitment to quality and personal ethics that remains strong to this day. Today they are still located in Wichita, Kansas.
Hyper Pet now operates out of an 100,000 square foot distribution facility. They now maintain numerous patents and brands. With the same commitment to product excellence, they are now an industry leader in the dog accessory space.
Hyper Pet looks to break mold in the pet accessory space as much as they can with aggressive product launches that disrupt traditional pet accessory categories. They have a deep focus on striving for operational and business excellence. Their CEO, Randy Woods, says “We, at Hyper Pet™, continually strive to exceed the expectations of our customers. We deliver products that constitute a significant value on a timely basis. We do so by going the extra mile, giving the benefit of the doubt and treating our customers, vendors, competitors and coworkers with the utmost dignity and respect.”
Frisbee’s and Fetch
Some dogs can’t seem to get enough of playing fetch. They’ll go back and forth until your arm is about to fall off. Other dogs show no interest in the game at all. It’s an all or nothing thing for dogs. The reason for this is because that is how we humans have bred them.
A long time ago when dogs were first being domesticated they were being used for certain jobs and tasks. Often times they helped us hunt and retrieve food. The dogs who were really good at hunting and retrieving continued to be bred with that in mind.
What that leads to nowadays is a genetic predisposition to hunting and retrieving that has been passed down from dog to dog. If your dog has these genetics inside of them then they will likely love playing fetch. When humans exercise the brain releases endorphins and other chemicals that creates pleasure. The same thing happens to dogs who are genetically predisposed to playing fetch. It just sets something off in their brain that makes them feel great.
The Flippy Flopper
The Hyper Pet Flippy Flopper Frisbee is made from soft rubber and durable nylon. It complies with child toy safety standards and is softer on your dog’s teeth than a normal plastic frisbee. These frisbees are great to use anywhere in any weather! Their bright neon colors make them easy to spot in any conditions. They stand out in the snow, rain, and on the beach. They are about 9 inches in size and don’t sink in water. This makes them a good option for a scuba pup too. They also even fly a little farther when they are wet or damp.
The outside ring of the frisbee is where the soft rubber is located giving the frisbee some more weight in the proper areas and helping it fly a little further. The frisbees are durable and long lasting while also being flexible and easy to carry as well.
These Flippy Flopper Frisbees should last you through about one hundred throw and fetch sessions with your pup. You can purchase them in a pack of five too so once one of them finally wears out you will have another one ready to go! Hyper Pet Flippy Flopper Frisbees are also great for dogs who love a quick round of tug of war after each throw and fetch. The durability and flexiness of the disc makes this manageable. The soft texture of the discs will go easy on their teeth and gums too while they tug away.
Is This Right For My Dog?
You also have to consider your dogs chewing habits. Consider dog chewing habits in three tiers. The bottom tier is the soft non-aggressive chewers. The middle tier is the stronger chewers who chew a lot but don’t destroy toys. The top tier is the aggressive chewers who love destruction of any kind. Toys or couches, your dog doesn’t care.
The Hyper Pet Flippy Flopper Frisbees can probably accomodate all three tiers of chewers. However, if you have a top tier chewer then these frisbees are not going to last nearly as long. We can’t see them making it to one hundred throws with a top tier chewer. We still believe they are usable though and the five pack makes replacement easy.
The Hyper Pet Flippy Flopper Frisbee is a solid dependable product but it does have a few shortcomings. The seam where the edge of the outside fabric is closed is typically what comes undone first and/or too soon. The rubber then becomes exposed and will either slowly break from that point on or your dog will just rip the rubber right out. Once the rubber is out it loses a lot of frisbee qualities in terms of how far you can really throw it. Also, like we mentioned above, it may not stand up to high tier chewers as good as it does with the other tiers.
You are also getting a tradeoff with the Hyper Pet Flippy Flopper Frisbee. This frisbee is much better for your dogs teeth and gums than a normal frisbee. However, while it does fly far, it is not going to go nearly as far as a regular plastic frisbee. This is just due to things such as material, weight, and aerodynamics.
The Hyper Pet Flippy Flopper Frisbee is a good doggy friendly frisbee worth trying out. It checks off all the boxes in terms of being safe for your pup while also being able to do what it is supposed to do. Entertain your pup in fetch! It may not go as far as a normal frisbee but we feel like that is a fair tradeoff in exchange for dog friendly material that is much more versatile and usable for a pup.
