About Purina

Sources of Nature

First and foremost, Purina is very selective when it comes to the ingredients put into their dog food formulas. They state that all of their dog food contains products from trusted sources. In fact, Purina understands most dog owners pay close attention to where their pup’s food comes from. Although information is not conclusive enough to state each Purina Beyond dog food is USA-made, we do note that the company carefully selects their ingredient sources. Overall, they strive to use honest and safe wild-caught and farm-raised proteins.

Nutrition Worth Craving

Secondly, Purina has an entire in-house team that dedicates their time to serving dogs and cats natural food with added essential nutrients. Plus, they go above and beyond with food that provides both flavor and easily digestible ingredients for dogs. Each natural ingredient is carefully evaluated to provide nutritional, tasty, and textured kibble bits.

Quality, Safety, and Standards

Lastly, Purina owns and operates all of the facilities where their food is made. Not only does this let them control what goes into their formulas, but they have the ultimate control over the entire process. Their skilled team of quality assurance experts watch closely to make sure every product has high quality ingredients your pet expects and deserves.

Purina knows that what you pour into your pet’s bowl should never risk their health; that’s why they have a dedicated food safety team. This team is in-charge of and protects all of the ingredients and processes. Notably, the Purina Beyond dog food line exceeds AAFCO standard protein requirements. To see their key differences and benefits, keep scrolling to view each individual product.

Wet Dog Food:

Purina Beyond offers a variety of wet dog food recipes.  All of their canned food products are grain-free, which is great news for dogs with allergy sensitivities. By including ingredients like beef, poultry, or fish, your pup will get plenty of protein from their diet. At Purina, they know that dogs crave high protein, nutrient dense, and a natural diet. Through our research, we can confirm that the Purina Beyond line of dog food follows through with those ideals. Truly, these products are made for the needs and cravings of canines.

Dry Dog Food:

Of course, there are dry food options for kibble-loving pups. Wet food can get a little messy, making dry food a great alternative, especially once your puppy phases out of their baby food Dry kibble can also be easier on your wallet. Again, these Purina Beyond recipes are packed full of protein, vitamins, and minerals to provide your dog with a healthy diet. Plus, the company has recently launched a new dry food (called Purina Beyond Wild) that contains freeze-dried bits of protein. Is Purina Beyond Dog Food Safe?

The simple answer: yes, it is safe and exceeds the AAFCO standards, but there are also better options out there. Purina Beyond dog food is manufactured by one of the world’s largest pet food companies: Purina-Nestle. They have factories across the globe, which leads us to believe that not all their ingredients are USA-sourced. However, the company does note on their website that their Beyond line is “crafted” in the USA. Whether sourced in the USA or not, seeing if there are any recalls of the Purina Beyond Dog Food will give us a definitive answer on its safety. In this case, it should be noted that the FDA issued a recall for Purina One Beyond White Meat Chicken & Whole Barley Recipe in August of 2013. This was due to a potential salmonella contamination. However, this one recall does not affect any other Beyond dog food products.

In the end, the safety of your dog really depends on their unique nutritional needs. Purina offers a wide variety of grain-free options, which is clearly labeled on the outside packaging. Unfortunately, though, this does not mean that each recipe is entirely gluten-free. If you wish for your pup to follow a more limited-ingredient diet, the Purina Beyond Simply 9 is the best bet.
