Cons of Greenies Dental Dog Treats

Just like the Whimzees, Greenies have their drawbacks as well for some dogs and pet owners. Here are some cons of Greenies Dental Dog Treats.

  • Has caused allergies in dogs, so be sure to get grain-free options if your dog has food sensitivities or allergies.
  • Recommended to give your dog one each day, not just as an occasional treat.

Greenies Dental Treats have also had many recalls due to its formula. There have been reports of dogs swallowing them whole instead of chewing on them. It turned out that the ingredients in the Greenies did not dissolve in the dogs digestive tract.

However, Greenies changed their ingredients so if a dog would swallow it whole, the Greenies will now dissolve. They also made them into a bendier chew, but still offers the chewing experience needed for dental support. Since then, there have been no reports of any dangerous concerns.

Overall Decision

the winner is…Whimzees Dental Dog Treats!

We find that these are less costly, more effective, and not only meets the needs of dental issues but also other health related concerns. Although we do like Greenies as well, they did have prior issues with their ingredients in recent years. However, they did change their formula and no reports have been made.
